There has already been many noteworthy events in Packers training camp, none more so than the extension received by wide receiver Jordy Nelson.
Tom Silverstein of the Journal Sentinel joined Sports Central on Thursday night to discuss training camp, and gave his thoughts on the extension given to Nelson by the Packers.
"I think it was an excellent deal for the Packers," Silverstein said. "I think it was pretty much a market deal. I don't think they overpaid. I think Nelson could've worked it more, but I think he's happy where he's at."
The next candidate for an extension is likely wide receiver Randall Cobb.
Cobb is entering the final year of his rookie deal, and ideally the Packers are able to get an extension done with him soon.
Silverstein brought up the issues with giving him an extension now, though.
"They've got all kinds of options," Silverstein explained. "Salary cap isn't an issue with Cobb. The issue is do you give him a contract before he really performs?"
"If he has the year he had two years ago, then he's going to get paid a lot of money, fairly close to what Nelson got," Silverstein added.
