UPDATE: Abbrederis sent out two tweets on Saturday afternoon, confirming his ACL is in fact torn:
I know there has been a lot of talk going around about my injury. The acl injury was confirmed this morning and is only a small setback.— Jared Abbrederis (@abbrecadabra) August 2, 2014
It will only make me stronger, and I cannot wait to get back on the field with my team! I truly appreciate all the love and support!— Jared Abbrederis (@abbrecadabra) August 2, 2014
According to Bob McGinn of the Journal Sentinel, rookie wide receiver Jared Abbrederis has suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament.
The team is yet to make any official announcement regarding the former Badgers' injury.
"I haven't had time to sit down with the medical staff," head coach Mike McCarthy said after the team's practice earlier today. "Right now, he has a knee. He completed practice yesterday."
Abbrederis was a fifth round pick for the Packers in this year's draft, and was touted by many to make the 53-man roster because of his abilities on special teams.
At Wisconsin, Abbrederis was a potent punt returner, a role the Packers are looking for someone to fill.
There are 11 receivers on the team's roster with Abbrederis. Only Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb, Jarrett Boykin and second-round draft pick Davante Adams are considered to be "locks" to make the team's 53-man roster for the regular season.
