Social media is killing vocabulary
The ACT has eliminated their extensive vocabulary section. Corporations are changing the way the communicate with young workers who like to be addressed in short bursts rather than long sentences. Even our stores have abbreviated names like Toys R Us or IKEA or H & M.
What's going on? Why is our vocabulary disappearing?
Experts say there are many reasons that people no longer use big words. One of the primary culprits...social media, specifically Twitter. People are getting used to communicating in 140 character bursts.
