Who Else Applied? Pee Wee Herman?

Who Else Applied? Pee Wee Herman?

Let's give credit where credit is due.  This time, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel columnist Dan Bice raises a good question.

Why in god's green earth is that State of Wisconsin hiring a guy with a track record of being soft on sexual predators to oversee the decisions on whether sexual predators should be released?  And why are we paying him potentially as much as $133, 316 a year?

Governor Walker's people say that the Governor had nothing to do with hiring Daniel Montaldi to be "evaluation director" at the Sand Ridge Secure Treatment Center.  I sure hope not.

Montaldi was essentially run out of town from his last gig with the Florida Department of Children and Families after a newspaper documented his track record of leniency towards perverts. Montaldi did nothing to help himself by writing about the need to stand up for the rights of sex offenders even if it is politically unpopular.

The release numbers regarding sexual predators in Florida seem to indicate that Montaldi lives his philosophy.

Frankly, this seems to be the type of hire that Jim Doyle's Department of Health Services would have made.  Not Scott Walker's!

The folks at DHS say that Montaldi is qualified and that he was hired as part of the civil service recruitment process.

This raises the question of who else applied?  Pee Wee Herman?  Woody Allen?

During the 1 p.m. hour of Tuesday's show we'll discuss whether Wisconsin can do better?  Please feel free to share your thoughts in the Comments section - and be sure to check back later to hear a replay of the segment.
