After 40 kids at an elementary school in Salt Lake City picked up their lunches, officials seized them. The reason? Their parents hadn't put money in the school lunch accounts of their children - and hadn't responded to calls from school personnel about the matter.
Since you can't take food from one child and serve it to another, the unpaid for lunches were thrown away.
Did school officials handle this properly? Should the parents have been more accountable? Were the children unnecessarily traumatized and sent to class hungry/
