A 9-year-old boy in North Carolina has taken to bringing his lunch to school in a My Little Pony lunch bag. As a result, he has become the target of some bullies.

In an effort to diffuse the situation, school officials have suggested that the child leave the lunch bag at home. They say the bag had become a distraction and was a "trigger for bullying".
The boy's parents are outraged and believes that the school should punish her child's tormentors.
Which raises the question of whether these remedies are mutually exclusive?
