I Still Miss Barnaby's - And Farrell's - And Captain's Steak Joynt
The other night I was in a new restaurant that had just opened a few miles from where I live. It was, frankly, quite good and certainly the type of place I could see myself becoming a regular at.
At the same time, two other restaurants in my area have recently closed. I wasn't a big fan of either one though, so I really won't miss them (although I certainly hope the owners and the employees find something else to do).
In this vein, the local newspaper has an article today about some new restaurants that have just opened - and some that are closing.
I'm always looking to find a great new restaurant (like I think I did this week). Still, there are a lot of restaurants that I've frequented over the years (both fine dining and otherwise) that have closed and that I still miss. Like Barnaby's ... and Farrell's ... and Captain's Steak Joynt.
Obviously, for better or worse, my tastes have gotten a bit more refined (and expensive) over the years.
During the 2:30 segment of Friday's radio show, we'll take a walk down memory lane and discuss restaurants that are gone - but not forgotten.
