Honest Officer, We Weren't Drinking - We Were All In The Back Singing. Just Ask Mom.
Chalk this one up to the progressively educated students and uber-tolerant parents of Milwaukere's North Shore.
At 8:30 p.m. on Friday, January 3rd, Mequon police responded to reports of a huge drinking party at a residence in Mequon. A boy answered the door - and channeling his best Clarence Darrow - told authorities he wouldn't let them in unless they had a search warrant!
To the credit of police, they obtained a warrant and raided the party around 11 p.m.
33 people between the ages of 15 and 20 were arrested for underage drinking. 21 citations were issued for obstruction for hiding from police. Another 25 people were at the party who had not been drinking.
A 57-year-old Mequon woman was arrested for providing alcohol to minors.
During the 1 p.m. hour of today's show, we'll discuss whether the woman sould have been charged? Some (not me) could argue that she was providing a public service by allowing the kids to drink in a controlled environment.
