ASHWAUBENON, Wis. - A heads up for all fans heading to the Packers Preseason home opener Friday. The Department of Transportation encourages you to plan on extra travel time for your game day schedule.
Due to the construction on parts of US-41 and new parking areas, there could be some delays.
"We've got a lot of message boards that are going to be on trying to help give motorists directions to what the best path may be, and we're gonna continue to monitor the traffic and make adjustments with signs to get people the best spot they can to get them there as efficiently as we can," says Scott Nelson, Traffic Engineer.
Friday's game is part of the "Gold Package" set aside for Milwaukee area season ticket holders as well as a Midwest Shriner's Game.
When fans are leaving Lambeau Field, the DOT is asking them to avoid getting on Highway 41 southbound on Lombardi Avenue. Instead, they are directing traffic south along Ashland Avenue to the roundabout in De Pere. They can then take the ramp from the roundabout directly onto Highway 41.
Drivers heading south along I-43 are also being asked to avoid taking 41 southbound from the stadium. They are also being asked to take Ashland Avenue. They should then take a right on Van Der Perren Way and follow the signs for 172 East to I-43.
The DOT says they're trying to keep as many drivers out of construction congestion along Highway 41 in Brown County, particularly at the 172-41 interchange.
