Report: Finley to leave hospital Thursday, go on IR

By Jay Sorgi. CREATED Oct 23, 2013

A tight end for the Green Bay Packers who suffered a significant neck injury in Sunday's game is reportedly set to leave the hospital on Thursday.

As reported by CBS' Jason La Canfora:

"Finley is still seeking opinions from specialists, doing better, each and every day," said Coach Mike McCarthy on Wednesday.  "He's making progress."

ESPN also reports that, according to teammates, Finley has expressed he still wants to play football.

In fact, one of them - Andrew Quarless - told the Journal Sentinel's Tyler Dunne:

Finley suffered what's been reported as a bruised spinal cord in Sunday's 31-13 Packers win over Cleveland.

As for potential decisions on his longer-term future, McCarthy said that he talked with general manager Ted Thompson, but they're in a wait-and-see period.

"We're going to wait until everything comes in.  We'll do our due diligence.  We will not be premature on anything.  We'll do what's in the best interest of Jermichael."
