On Thursday night, Franklin impressed with a win over Sussex Hamilton. The Sabers won 44-28 behind two touchdowns each from Gavin Boeck and Giovanni Flores.
Two touchdowns from Tommy Garza helped Catholic Memorial take down Milwaukee Riverside 40-7, while Thomas Kennedy had a 50-yard touchdown run to highlight St. Thomas More's win over Milwaukee Madison.
SWCHA handled Bay View 49-6, while Wauwatosa West and Lake Country Lutheran also had comfortable wins, 42-7 over Wauwatosa East and 53-12 over Rio, respectively.
Greendale and Cedarburg had a dramatic opener, with the Panthers coming out on top 28-27 in overtime. Wilmot (Ill.) came up north and beat New Berlin Eisenhower 24-14, as well.
Milwaukee King beat Messmer/Shorewood 36-19, and finally Oak Creek took down Menomonee Falls by the score of 20-10 to open the season.
