Packers-Rams preseason matchup brings really affordable road trip

ST. LOUIS - Anyone up for a Packers road trip that won't break the bank?

Try this weekend for the Packers-Rams preseason matchup at the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis (Saturday night, August 18th, 5:00 p.m. broadcast on 620WTMJ and online on your desktop computer, 6:30 p.m. on TODAY'S TMJ4 and NBC26).

As of noon Monday, plenty of tickets looked to be available on the two sites we've researched, at somewhat low cost:
- Ticketmaster (the official seller for the St. Louis Rams): $55 plus service charges
- Stubhub: $18.50 plus service charges

The cost of a hotel is also incredibly affordable: $46/night for two nights on Hotwire for a hotel that's easily within walking distance or a short rail ride away from the Edward Jones Dome.

The drive is also not long: eight hours from Lambeau Field to the Edward Jones Dome, six hours, 20 minutes from downtown Milwaukee.

At the rate of $3.50 for regular unleaded for Milwaukee (Monday afternoon's average), someone who gets 25 miles per gallon will spend about $107 for gasoline if they drive from the Brew City.

Combine all that, two Packers fans could take the trip for a cost of under $250 (not including food and spending money).

(Of course, prices are subject to change.)

Plus, as we discovered on a Brewers-Cardinals road trip two years ago, there's LOTS of affordable and fun things to do in St. Louis when not watching the Packers beat the Rams.

Can anyone and gold road trip?
