Drops Depart, Grey Goes Away, But Even Cooler Coming

A weak cool front is passing through our area today.  There’s enough lingering moisture and instability to kick off some isolated showers, though nothing significant is expected and certainly any rainfall would not be widespread.  Once this boundary clears Southeast Wisconsin, we can expect the clouds to continue falling apart.  The clearing skies and a new air mass sinking in from the North will usher in very chilly conditions for this time of year.  Low temperatures in some spots during the next couple of nights could dip into the 40s.  Meantime, a ridge of high pressure will take hold and provide a very stable atmosphere without much moisture leading to several dry days with plenty of sunshine.  The next disturbance to affect us would be on Friday with a few more clouds and perhaps a chance of some rain, but even that seems less than certain.  High pressure then takes over again for the holiday weekend with what promises to be great weather both the 4th of July and Sunday as temperatures at last approach the 80 degree mark.
