Oprah Winfrey has teamed up with Starbucks and Teavana to launch her own brand of tea, Oprah Chai Tea, which will be available at both retailers beginning April 29.
Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz brought Winfrey on stage Wednesday at his company's shareholders meeting in Seattle to announce a drink named for her. Starbucks will make a donation to the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy Foundation for each Oprah Chai Tea sold.
"I looove tea! It’s a daily ritual and vital part of my morning. Chai is a favorite of mine. When Howard and Starbucks offered me a chance to create my very own tea blend, I thought that sounded like fun to the tenth power," Winfrey explained on Instagram. "To share one of my favorite things with you and support youth education at the same time is truly the perfect blend. Visit oprah.com/steepyoursoul for more info. #OprahChai #SteepYourSoul."
"The ritual of steeping tea provides a time to pause and reflect each day. To those of you who share this appreciation of personal 'steep time,' Teavana and Oprah invite you to celebrate yours with us," notes Oprah's Web site. "Check back each week for our exclusive 'Steep Your Soul' series, where 'Super Soul Sunday' guests open up about their own daily rituals."
A portion of Starbucks and Teavana Oprah Chai products will be donated "to support youth education through the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy Foundation, which provides funding for the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls—South Africa and is dedicated to helping its graduates attend colleges and universities around the world," according to her Web site.
