OAK CREEK - In YouTube video posted just last week, men are seen setting an elaborate trap on what the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources says is private land in Oak Creek.

The video shows a man carrying a T-shirt toward the trap. Laughter is heard as the man enters the enclosure with a deer already struggling. The laughter continues as the deer tries to get away, only to be wrestled to the ground.

The video is titled 'how to put a T-shirt on a fiesty deer'. At least five men are involved. They used at least three video cameras to capture what they did, including one camera mounted on someone's head.

The deer ran off and has since been spotted by several Oak Creek residents.

"It's always tough to see someone act like that toward a wild animal," DNR warden Kaitlin Kernosky told TODAY'S TMJ4 reporter Tom Murray. "They have an instinct to get away. They're not used to being handled."

The DNR said the men in the video have been identified, but not yet contacted by law enforcement authorities. Kernosky said each man involved could face of a fine of at least $303.

Only a fraction of the yellow T-shirt remained around the deer's neck at last sighting, the DNR said. The animal is believed to be healthy and should be left alone.

The video has since been removed from YouTube. Oak Creek police are assisting with the investigation.

One of the men issued a statement, but would not go on camera.

"We meant nothing by it," he said. "We didn't harm the animal. We apologize for hurting anybody's feelings. We did it just for fun."
