Time to review homeowner's insurance

MILWAUKEE - When was the last time that you reviewed your homeowner's insurance?

If it has been awhile, now might be a good time to look things over.

As spring sets in and warmer weather arrives, you could be at greater risk for damage caused by spring and summer storms.

When reviewing your coverage, be sure to:

• Take note of how much it would cost to rebuild or repair your home.

If it has been awhile since you reviewed your coverage, you may be surprised to learn that you may not have enough insurance to cover these costs.

• Ask questions about how your home and belongings would be covered, especially if you sustain a loss due to sewer back-up or a flood.

Unless you buy a special sewer back-up rider or flood insurance, you may not have coverage.

• If you have expensive jewelry or equipment and tools used for business, ask if a special rider or policy is needed for these items.

• If you are a renter, do not assume that you are covered under your landlord's policy. Get renter's insurance.

With few exceptions, your landlord will not be responsible for damage to your of property due to fire, theft, flood or other perils.

Do not wait to until a disaster strikes. Get in touch with your insurance agent today and do a thorough review of your coverage.
