Tons of Campbell's Soup burns in early-morning highway fire
YORKVILLE - The Racine County Sheriff was called to a fire on the State Hwy. 20 exit ramp from northbound I-94 just after 3 a.m. Tuesday morning.
"Upon arrival Deputies found that the semi tractor had been disengaged from the trailer, which was fully engulfed," according to Sheriff Christopher K. Schmaling. "The driver of the semi was able to drive the tractor from the scene and was not injured during the incident."
The trailer was hauling around 43,000 lbs. of Campbell's soup.
The fire was put out and the clean-up is underway. The ramp will be closed until around 8 a.m. Tuesday morning.
The sheriff's office hasn't yet determined a cause, and the investigation is ongoing.
