MADISON -- TIME Magazine announced on Thursday that Governor Scott Walker is among its 2014 TIME 100.
The Republican was named one of the publication's top 100 most influential people for the year.
Walker appears in the "Leaders" section - featured alongside politicians like Secretary of State John Kerry and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
In a statment released today by the Governor's office, Walker said he was "humbled" by the honor. He added that the decision was not about him, but "our bold reforms and what they have accomplished."
Fellow Republican Governor Chris Christie of New Jersey wrote the essay honoring Walker. In it, Christie praises the fiscal policy of the Walker administration, saying the governor's policies "bring fairness to the taxpayers through common sense reform of the public sector collective bargaining laws."
Christie also praised Walker's poise during the 2012 recall election.
The TIME 100 list has been published for 11 years.
The full list will appear in the May 5 issue of TIME magazine. You can view it online here.
