Stevens Point man earns 10th drunk driving offense
STEVENS POINT, Wis. (AP) -- A Stevens Point man has been arrested for his 10th drunken-driving offense.
A Stevens Point Journal Media report says the 38-year-old is set to make an initial court appearance March 10.
Portage County deputies arrested him Friday about 1:30 a.m. after finding his car in a ditch in the town of Linwood. A judge ordered him held on a $25,000 cash bond pending the filing of formal charges.
The man was on supervision for his ninth operating-while-intoxicated conviction when he was arrested. His first conviction was in 1994.
Assistant prosecutor Cass Cousins says the man's blood-alcohol level was 0.27 percent, more than three times the legal limit.
The man has served four prison terms for drunken-driving convictions. He was also convicted of felony escape.
