SILVER LAKE -The resignation of Silver Lake police Chief Dan Kingsley comes as a sad surprise to many in the village.
"I'm going to miss him," said Jo Lasdasky.
During the village’s board meeting, Board President Sue Gerber held back tears as notified the board of Kingsley’s decision.
"In my opinion Chief Kingsley was the best police chief this village has ever had. He is going to be irreplaceable and I wish him our best," said Gerber.
When asked why now, Kingsley says this is the right time for him and his family.
"You never know what life brings. I don’t like to have any regrets and say what if," Chief Kingsley.
In the last six months, the village has lost three fire chiefs who resigned after disputes with the Village board – and now the village is without a police chief.
Kingsley’s resignation leaves the department with only three full-time officers and no leader.
