MILWAUKEE - The owner of a building where a porch collapse sent two people to the hospital Thursday owns dozens of properties in Milwaukee, many of them with extensive records of code violations.

Elijah Mohammed Rashaed, or companies registered in his name, own 154 buildings in the city of Milwaukee.
City inspection records identified 1,045 code violations at only eight of those properties.
That included 197 violations at the building on the 3000 block of W. Highland Boulevard.
The man who identified himself as the manager of that building insisted the problems were being addressed.
"He's getting contractors," the manager said. "It's just a matter of it's so many properties. They're working on the problems."
A contractor was working on the rear porch at 24th and National last week when it collapsed.
That work, according to city records, was done without a permit.
