Child struck, killed on Milwaukee's north side

UPDATE: The victim has been identified as Cory Stevenson Jr., according to Bregetta Wilson, a community neighborhood health representative with Children's Hospital.

He was a kindergarten student in Milwaukee Public Schools.

"Milwaukee Public Schools expresses our deepest condolences and sympathy to the family, friends, classmates and staff of the kindergarten student killed this morning," said Tony Tagliavia with Milwaukee Public Schools. "The district is providing support services to students and staff at the school and offering assistance to the family."


UPDATE: Milwaukee police have confirmed the victim is a 6-year-old boy from Milwaukee.

He was hit as he crossed North Avenue after exiting an alley.

The vehicle, driven by a 58-year-old Milwaukee woman, remained at the scene and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation.

She was not injured.


MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee Fire Department has confirmed to TODAY'S TMJ4 that a child was struck and killed near N. 41st St. and W. North Ave. The child's age is unknown.

Crews arrived on the scene around 7:04 a.m. Thursday.

Little information is known at this time.
