Newsradio 620 WTMJ, TODAY'S TMJ4 win Murrow Awards

Both Newsradio 620 WTMJ and TODAY'S TMJ4 are 2014 recipients of regional Edward R. Murrow Awards, the Radio Television Digital News Association announced Tuesday.

Newsradio 620 WTMJ took home two awards. The station's coverage of a Carroll University lockdown won the award for Breaking News in Large Market Radio, while the story "Young Historians of World War II" won for Feature Reporting.

"The awards recognized the station's coverage of two very unique stories," said Tom Langmyer, Vice President and General Manager for Journal Broadcast Group's Milwaukee Radio Operations. "Jodi Becker actually found herself in the middle of a story as she was at Carroll University as the school was put on lockdown. She and the team provided remarkable coverage from the inside of a classroom on the campus. Erik Bilstad wonderfully covered middle school students documenting the experiences of Holocaust survivors and World War II veterans." 

In addition, TODAY'S TMJ4 was recognized for the best Website in Large Market Television, for
