MILWAUKEE - Milwaukee police are investigating a deadly shooting. Two people were killed near the Marquette University campus. Shots rang out inside an off-campus apartment. The shooting happened in a four story building right at the corner of 22nd and Wells. Neighbors tell us that Marquette students live here and there are often after-hours parties going on in these apartments.
Police confirm that shooting did happen at a party in the building. Two men, ages 20 and 21, attending a party had an argument, and then, shots rang out. Hours later, neighbors just feel sad.
"So I feel greeved, for the family, you know, who lost their loved one," said Tuwyna McNeal, neighbor.
The neighborhood has also lost a sense of security. People we spoke with tell me they've felt safe here, because it's common to see Milwaukee police and Marquette security on patrol.
"And it's not just affecting the family, the ones who got killed, it's affecting people who live around here. They're scared to come outside, scared to walk to the store," said Kenneth Edwards, neighbor.
The shooting happened just before 3am and by 4am, Marquette sent an alert to students, advising them to walk in pairs, be alert and take note of suspicious vehicles.
Witnesses saw a man take off his shirt and run from the scene. Saturday afternoon, police had that area around the shirts taped off as they investigated whether this could be from another victim or the gunman.
