Child's teeth knocked out while being punished with soap
RACINE - A man from Burlington was arrested for abuse after allegedly knocking out a child's teeth by shoving a bar of soap in her mouth, according to the Racine Journal Times.
Samuel R. Martin, Jr., 36, was allegedly upset with the girl for "behaving poorly", and in an incident June 3, he became angry and used the soap to punish the girl for swearing. The girl later told police she was in bed when Martin came into her room and forced the soap into her mouth. Two of her teeth were broken in the incident.
Martin was charged on July 26 with one count of physical abuse of a child and given $1,000 signature bond. He faces a preliminary hearing Sept. 4. If convicted, he could face up to 18 months in prison.
