WAUWATOSA - By all accounts, Heather Langenecker, 25, would talk your ear off if she had the chance. Today, the young woman can't speak.  Her illness won't let her.

Heather has cystic fibrosis, a genetic disorder that often attacks the lungs. The woman is on a ventilator at Froedtert Hospital, waiting for new lungs from an organ donor.  She uses a pen and a notepad to communicate.

"I sleep with my head on her bed, so at night, when she needs me, she hits the bed so I know to wake up and get help," explained Julie Langenecker, Heather’s mother.

Family members are trying to lift her spirits. A Facebook page, named ‘Pray for Heather,’ has exploded with support.  More than 1,100 friends and perfect strangers have left comments to lift the woman’s spirits.

"We just thought our family and friends would like it, and all of a sudden, people started liking it who we didn't even know. So hopefully, more people will keep liking it," said Paul Langenecker, Heather’s brother.

"She's just so happy that people are reaching out,” Julie Langenecker said.
