MENASHA - A girl in Appleton was honored Thursday night for saving her mother's life.
Iyara Yang is only 8-years-old, but this past summer, her mom lost consciousness but Iyara kept her composure. She called 911 and later acted as a translator to get her mom the help she needed. One of the paramedics asked if she could be recognized for her bravery. She says she just wanted to help.
"I thought about it and the fastest way to save my mom's life was to call 911, so i decided to call 911," explains Yang. "I felt fine and kind of scared, because I never called 911 in my life before."
Iyara's mom is doing fine. Paramedics say it's all thanks to her daughter's quick thinking.
