MADISON --  Controversy now surrounds Gov. Scott Walker's State of the State speech from Wednesday night.

While topics like tax cuts and jobs topped his speech, it now appears Walker shared the stage with a registered sex offender.

In  an effort to show that the state had exceeded his campaign goal of creating 10,000 new businesses, the governor lined up about a dozen people behind him from the state who had been hired since he took office.

Walker held up one, Christopher Barber, as an example of economic success.

What Walker did not know is that Barber is a registered sex offender, with two felonies and three drunk driving convictions.

The office of the governor admits it did not do a background check on the guests.
