Ben Sebena sentenced in murder of his wife, Wauwatosa police officer Jen Sebena
WAUWATOSA - The man who killed his wife on Christmas Eve in Wauwatosa has been sentenced to life in prison, but will have a chance for extended supervision after 35 years.
Judge David Borowski called the case one of the worst he had ever seen, and accused Mr. Sebena of bringing "an act of war to Wauwatosa."
"If I could go back, I would do it a completely different way or seek help," Sebena explained. "My family's shown me so much support and love right now, I just wish I would have been able to see that."
Sebena's mother also asked for leniency.
"Our once smiling, happy, jokester son has receeded into the darkness of his mental wounds of war," she said.
Jennifer Sebena was murdered by her husband on Dec. 24, 2012 while on duty. Ben Sebena pleaded guilty to the crime.
According to court documents, Sebena said he killed her due to post-traumatic stress disorder. He later told police he wanted to kill himself, and she told him if he did she would kill herself. He said he killed her to make sure "Jen got to heaven."
He reportedly then hoped to be killed in a police shootout.
