The search is on for a missing Mequon woman. No one has seen or heard from Candace Giles since late Thursday morning.
Family and friends are worried she may be in danger or in need of help after she missed an appointment.
Mequon Police got the call around 1:30 Thursday afternoon after Giles didn’t show up for a scheduled appointment.
The 54 -year old was last seen a couple of hours earlier at her Mequon home. Some of her personal items were found inside.
"I was shocked," said Gary Dickerson. "I was out walking and my son called me and said: Have you heard the news? Candace is missing. I couldn’t believe it."
Gary and his sons know Candace from the River Lane Inn restaurant where they say she used to work as hostess.
She's a very nice person, said Gary.
His son Tom worked with Candace years ago. He says she was,"very upbeat always energetic. She always liked to tell jokes so a very warm hearted person."
Friends gathered at Crossroads Church in Mequon where Giles is a deacon. They are lost for words right now but they are praying for her.
Police say there’s no evidence of foul play.
She was last seen wearing a red shirt, green sweater and jeans. Her family believes she may be in danger or in need of help, although police do not suspect foul play.
Police are re-canvassing the search area, but are now including the banks along the Milwaukee River.
