UPDATE: Kristen Smith, a woman claiming to be a relative of the recently recovered newborn baby from Beloit, has been charged with kidnapping in connection with the case.

The US Attorney for the Western Disctrict of Wisconsin filed the charge today in US Disctrict court. If convicted, she faces a maximum penalty of life in prison.

According to the criminal complaint, Smith said she had given birth on February 5th. Pregnancy tests revealed she was not pregnant.

Police found a prosthetic pregnancy belly in Smith's car.

Smith eventualy admitted that she took Kayden from her sister's home in Beloit, and even gave them directions on where to find the child.

Police said six-day-old Kayden was found in a plastic tote, wrapped in blankets, at a gas station in eastern Iowa Friday morning.

Officials said he is excellent health and is being cared for at an Iowa hospital.

BELOIT- Moments after birth Brianna Marshall held tight to little Kayden. 5 days later, she and her family are holding on to hope that the infant is safe.

“It's just killing me inside. I held that baby one time and that was the last time I seen that baby and held him."

Kayden's great uncle Mark Bennett last saw Brianna and the baby at 1:30 this morning after she put him down to sleep. The next thing he heard is a scream.

“The baby's missing, the baby is missing."

The baby wasn't the only one missing.

Kristen Smith - who showed up shortly after the baby was born, claiming to be a relative - was also gone.

“She was the only one in my house the only one who left up out my house that early in the  morning."

Police caught up with Smith in Iowa. Inside her van officers found baby clothes but no sign of the five-day-old infant.

They arrested her on an unrelated warrant. Meanwhile, back in Beloit, the family pleads for Kayden's safe return.

“I just want my great nephew back from that broad, woman, mystery chick, whoever she might be."
