KENOSHA - A mother and son were hurt after their jet ski crashed into a wooden boardwalk at a marina.
It happened at Kenosha's Southport Marina around 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
Witnesses reported hearing a scream and then the sound of a crash.
"It was very loud, you couldn't not heard it anywhere in the harbor and the wind was blowing pretty hard," said Tricia Blossom.
The Illinois woman was two docks away when she ran to find out what happened.
Blossom said a woman was riding on the jet ski with her teenage son at the controls.
It's not clear if the throttle became stuck or the boy paniced, but the machine was traveling at a high speed. That's when it smashed into the wooden boardwalk sending the jet ski and the boy on to the rocks.
The boy's mother jumped off the back of the machine a split second before the crash.
The two were taken to a local hospital. Their condition is not known.
