Teenager dies after suffering injury at State Fairgrounds
MILWAUKEE - A teenager has died after falling off a truck at the State Fairgrounds earlier this month.
According to the Milwaukee County medical examiner, 19-year-old John Klossner was working as a part of a group brought in to handle cattle during the Wisconsin State Fair. On Aug. 3 just before 5 p.m., Klossner and four other workers were in th eback of a moving vehicle heading east on 5th Avenue. The tailgate was off, and Klossner was riding in the bed of the truck with his legs hanging over the edge.
"Supposedly, the driver was going 10mph in a 20mph zone," said Medical Examiner Karen Domagalski. "After some coaxing from passengers, the driver floored the accelerator, the truck lurched forward, and [Klosser] and a friend were ejected."
Klossner reportedly fell backward and hit his head on the road. He was taken to the hospital and admitted with traumatic head trauma. He died Monday, Aug. 12 just before 10 a.m.
