Gov. Walker shows off Milwaukee during NGA meetings
MILWAUKEE - When it comes to national attention, Governor Scott Walker is not shy.
"At least for the next couple of days when it comes to state government, the focal point of the country will be here, Milwaukee, WI," said Walker.
As the host of this year's National Governors Association convention, Governor Walker is proud to have the Brew City on display, and his fellow governors are taking notice.
"Milwaukee's one of the great hidden gems," says Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper.
Hickenlooper is one of 23 governors taking part in the three-day long convention.
"I have a special fondness for being in Milwaukee," he explains. "Between beer and cheese, what else do you need in life?"
While no legislation will be passed from this meeting, Governor Walker says the gathering is an opportunity for governors to put politics aside.
"To a secondary degree, it’s to inform, to help governors get a good grasp on what the issues are," he said.
And after a long day of meetings, what better way to relax than to get on a hog and ride?
Governor Walker, along with a few governors and members of the Combat Vet Association, rode around Milwaukee before parking their Harleys at the Harley Davidson Museum to party the night away.
