Braun to miss Brewers-D'Backs Thursday, but not due to PED or thumb issues
Milwaukee Brewers Ryan Braun(8) who ESPN today says is facing a 100 game suspension from MLB over performance enhancing substances, tips his hat to the umpire after he hits a single in his first at bat in the first iduring the Milwaukee Brewers-Cincinatti Reds MLB baseball game Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at Miller Park in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee Brewers say Ryan Braun will not be playing in tonight's Brewers-Arizona Diamondbacks game in Phoenix.
It apparently has nothing to do with a performance-enhancing drug scandal or his previously-injured thumb. The Brewers tweeted this late Thursday afternoon.
#Brewers Transaction: Ryan Braun was placed on the bereavement list effective today due to a family medical issue.— Milwaukee Brewers (@Brewers) July 11, 2013
The team did not immediately disclose the specific family issue.
MLB policies usually mean a 3-7 day bereavement period.
