Flood warnings for Milwaukee area rivers
MILWAUKEE - The National Weather Service has issued flood warnings for the Milwaukee River near Cedarburg and the Root River in Franklin.
The NWS said that water would rise above flood stage - 11 feet - and reach about six inches higher after midnight on Tuesday morning.
It said that if waters reached 12 feet, river water would flood backyards of homes in Thiensville.
In the case of the Root River, river water had just reached beyond flood stage of eight feet.
If the river rises to 8.3 feet, there's about a 50 percent change of floods happening in the area.
