WAUKESHA- A 32-year-old man has been arrested following a four-hour standoff with authorities in Waukesha Wednesday afternoon.
Waukesha police say the suspect surrendered peacefully around 2:25 p.m., over four hours after a 25-year-old woman escaped from a home with a gunshot wound, and called police from a neighbor's home. That standoff happened at the intersection of Oak Ridge Drive and West Washington Avenue, just to the west of the Waukesha Sheriff's Office and Courthouse.
During the 9-1-1 call, the woman said her 32-year-old boyfriend may be armed.
Tactical teams and a negotiator were sent to the home before 10 a.m. They were able to get the suspect to surrender without any incident.
Authorities are searching the home for that apparent weapon.
The suspect has been transported to Waukesha Memorial Hospital for a gunshot wound to his hand. The 25-year-old woman has an injury to her neck. Investigators believe there was a struggle and one gunshot was fired -- striking the man's hand and the woman's neck.
Law enforcement sources tell TODAY'S TMJ4's Tom Murray that some sort of domestic situation led to the standoff.
Washington and Delafield Streets were being blocked off during the standoff.
