Summer is busiest time of year for Milwaukee-area emergency rooms
MILWAUKEE - Milwaukee-areal emergency rooms really fill up this time of year.
The ER's get hit with start-of-the-summer injuries.
Dr. Christopher Asandra heads the ER at WheatonFranciscan St. Joseph's. He told Newsradio 620 WTMJ's Jodi Becker that the summer is their busiest time of year.
"We see everything from scrapes and bruises to near drowning, serious burns, sunburns," explained Asandra.
Dr. Asandra says prevention is key to avoid accidents, dehydration and burns.
He explained that if a burn blisters, head to an ER right away.
If someone's has been in the heat and has a change in their mental status, they need to be checked out by a doctor.
