UW-Stout provost among SIU-Edwradsville candidates
EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (AP) -- The search for a successor to the retiring chancellor of Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville is down to three finalists.
The (Alton) Telegraph (http://bit.ly/HZIdza ) reports that a search committee comprised largely of professors, administrators and students have winnowed down a pool of 37 candidates for Vaughn Vandegrift's job.
The finalists include Raymond Alden, Northern Illinois University's executive vice president and provost. There's Julie Furst-Bowe, the provost and vice chancellor for academic and student affairs at the University of Wisconsin-Stout. And there's Carl Anthony Stockton, the provost and senior vice president for academic affairs at the University of Houston-Clear Lake.
The committee eventually will make a recommendation to SIU President Glenn Poshard. The university system's board then will vote on the matter, with Vandegrift's replacement to be named next month.
