Huge antique estate sale in Muskego

By Melissa McCrady. CREATED Apr 9, 2012

MUSKEGO - Hundreds of thousands of antique items are up for grabs at a huge estate sale, one of the largest in the area.

The sale started Monday morning in Muskego.

Hundreds of people lined up and camped out to find treasure at an estate sale.

Joyce Johnson camped out as the first person in line.

When asked about why she stayed overnight for the sale, she said, "The excitement.  It's a lot of fun.  Maybe, (I will) find a treasure."

Many who went right in went immediately for the Lionel Train sets, while others sought out antique kitchen goods.

The couple that lived in the home built the house on Little Muskego Lake in 1954.  They had two sons.

"The kids never left, and they stayed until they passed away," said Tom Ewart of Open House Estate Sales.

Nearly six decades of items piled up.

"There were rooms you couldn't get into.  It was piled to the ceiling," explained Ewart.

He and his workers spent 17 days cleaning up and putting all these items up for sale.

"Anything that represents a different space in time is nostalgic," claimed Ewart.

"Whether it's an old coffee pot, or the Lionel Train stuff, this is what sells."

Monday's sale ends at 5:00 p.m., while the four-day sale ends at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
