Democrat Berman enters lieutenant governor race
MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Bruce Berman of Marinette is planning to run for lieutenant governor as a Democrat.
At least two other Democrats have said they want to take on Republican Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch in a recall election.
If a Democratic primary is necessary, it will be on May 8 with the general election on June 5.
The 47-year-old Berman is a contract driver and has never run for statewide office before. He ran for state Assembly in 2004 and lost to then-Assembly Speaker John Gard.
Berman says he wanted to run for lieutenant governor in part because other candidates were from the Madison or Milwaukee areas.
Other Democrats running are Mahlon Mitchell, president of the Professional Fire Fighters of Wisconsin, and Milwaukee private investigator Ira Robins.
