MILWAUKEE- As the search for a missing Milwaukee man continues -- changes are being made to keep others safe this weekend.

It's been six days since Tom Hecht disappeared after a night of drinking with friends along on Water Street.

With thousands of people expected in the area to celebrate St. Patrick's Day, police, businesses and people have missing man Tom Hecht's case on their minds.

As volunteers wrap up a sixth day of searching and still with no sign of Tom Hecht, their efforts aren't far from the minds of complete strangers.

Carolyn Mendez is taming her party plans Saturday, in light of Tom Hecht's disappearance.  "I'm not planning on getting too crazy just because of this most recent event," said Mendez

The 28-year-old vanished after a pub crawl with friends last Saturday night.  He was last seen at Rosie's On Water.

"The officers will pay close attention to those lone individuals that seem to be walking off by themselves, who are in some distress, so we can intervene before something bad happens where they may end up in the river," said Milwaukee Police Captain Steve Basting.

Friends, family and investigators have exhausted every avenue in the downtown Milwaukee area to find the 28 year-old.  They plan to camp out along Water Street much of Saturday, hoping to spread the word of their search for Tom Hecht and connect with anyone who may have been out last weekend.

TODAY'S TMJ4's Keller Russell notes that while Milwaukee police are getting calls, they say there's been no concrete tips.  They say the river's current and debris have also made that part of the search difficult.  At the same time, police stress they are still searching with the hope of finding Tom safely

Clear Channel donated a billboard along I-794 and 6th Street in Milwaukee to ask for help in the search.  There's also billboard along I-94 in Madison.
