CAMPBELLSPORT - An emotional Monday morning was expected as students and teachers were to return to class at  Campbellsport High School in Fond du Lac County.

Three students at the school were killed and several more were injured after a weekend car crash.

Katie Berg, 16, Caitlin Scannell, 17, and Sabrina Stahl, 15, all died after a friend lost control of an SUV they were riding in early Saturday morning.

Six other girls who attend the school were hurt.

The nine girls were in an SUV that left a road near the high school early Saturday, crashed into a field and rolled several times.

Investigators say some of the girls weren't wearing seat belts.

Principal Kristen Langer says the conditions of the six injured girls at two hospitals have not deteriorated.

The principal says students are meeting with counselors in the school library where they can watch Facebook videos, see pictures of the girls and leave messages for them in notebooks.

"Everyone is just taking this really hard," said Dylan Sarauer, a student at the school.

Students with heavy hearts and emotional shock said prayers and sang "Amazing Grace" during a candlelight vigil.

"It's your worst nightmare," explained Ron Schlafer, who attended the vigil.

"You hear it.  You read about it.  You see it, but this close, it hits home."

"No one ever thought of these girls, that this would ever happen to them," said Sarauer.

Scannell and Stahl died at the scene, while Katie passed away at Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa.

Students gathered at the school to write letters to the girls early Sunday.

"Our hearts go out to all the families," said Schlafer.  "Not much more you can say."

Langer says the girls were friends who played soccer and volleyball. Some have siblings at the high school.
