Conservative groups to air ads in Milwaukee supporting Walker's budget
MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Two conservative groups have launched a television ad backing Republican Gov. Scott Walker's policies as opponents begin organizing a petition drive to force a recall election.
The Americans for Prosperity Foundation and the MacIver Institute for Public Policy announced Wednesday that they were launching a website in support of Walker's budget called ItsWorkingWisconsin.com and airing a 60-second television ad.
The groups didn't say where the ad was running, but the Wisconsin Democratic Party says its media tracker told them it is running on Milwaukee, Green Bay, La Crosse and Wausau stations. Democrats say the ad buy is nearly $250,000.
Americans for Prosperity state director Matt Seaholm says the project "cuts through the noise to present the facts."
Walker opponents plan to circulate recall petitions starting next month.
