Walker says focus should be on worker training

MADISON- Gov. Scott Walker says he will focus on ways to bridge the gap between jobs that are available in the state and getting workers trained to take those jobs.

Walker told the state's business leaders at a Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce meeting Tuesday that helping employers close that gap will be a priority of his following a special legislative session this fall.

Democrats say the special session that began Tuesday will do little to help with job creation. Walker says the bills being taken up were more "nuts and bolts, bread and butter issues" like bolstering tax incentives and easing the litigation environment.

Walker says he wants to look at the money spent on workforce development to make sure it's focused on areas where there are needs.
