Burglary trend in Racine
RACINE- Racine Police report that a number of City of Racine residents and businesses have been the victims of a recent sustained burglary trend.
Police say several arrests have been made in recent weeks; however, additional suspects remain on-the-loose as of Wednesday afternoon.
On September 29th the City of Racine Police Department issued City Watch phone message to area residents of the north and south sides of the city.
The north side burglaries have consisted of entry to ground level windows typically during daytime, 5 A.M. to 4 P.M., hours.
South side burglars have targeted mostly garages also during daylight, 5 A.M. to 4 P.M., hours. Despite this alert and several burglary related arrests residents and businesses are still being victimized.
There have also been 8 reports of burglaries to commercial businesses since August 28, 2011. Convenience stores, taverns, and gas stations have been targeted during the overnight hours.
The suspect(s) have gained entry by breaking a windows or forcing doors of the building.
All suspicious activity should be reported to the Racine Police Department immediately by calling (262)886-2300. Emergency situations, a crime in progress, should be reported via 9-1-1.
