GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -- The Wisconsin Division of Emergency Management says an apparent tornado has hit Marinette County in northeastern Wisconsin causing at least one death.

Marinette County Sheriff Jerry Sauve says in a statement that 43-year-old Douglas E. Brem, who recently moved to the Wausaukee area, was pronounced dead at the scene after the storm moved through Friday evening. No other injuries were reported.

Emergency Management spokewoman Lori Getter says about 2,000 people are without power in Marinette and neighboring Menomonie counties. She says Wisconsin Public Service is working to restore electricity.

She says many trees and power lines are down after the apparent tornado hit about 5 p.m.

The National Weather Service is reporting that the storm also packed nearly 2-inch hail. A damage survey team is scheduled to go out on Saturday.
