Miranda Lambert was announced Friday as one of the performers on Sunday night's live Grammy telecast and she's taking the stage with someone who might, at first glance, seem like an unusual duet partner. But for a tribute to the Everly Brothers' Phil Everly, who passed away earlier this month, it's entirely appropriate that the country singer will team with a rock 'n' roll artist: Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong.
Both nominated for Grammys this year -- Miranda for Best Country Solo Performance for "Mama's Broken Heart" -- the country girl and the rocker will team up for "When Will I Be Loved," a 1960 hit for Phil and Don Everly and a No. 1 smash for Linda Ronstadt in 1974.
"It's really cool to perform this song," Miranda says. "I've been doing the Linda Rondstadt version ... for a long time ... I'm a chick singer from Texas, so, of course!" (Watch the video above for more from Miranda during Grammy rehearsals.)
Miranda's husband, Blake Shelton, will also be performing on the Grammy stage, with legendary singer-songwriters Merle Haggard, Kris Kristofferson and Willie Nelson. Taylor Swift, Keith Urban, Kacey Musgraves and Hunter Hayes are also slated to perform throughout the live telecast.
The Grammy Awards air live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Sunday, Jan. 26, at 7:00 PM ET.
