The health of a radio and television personality that so many of us grew up with has taken a turn for the worse.
A spokesperson for St. Anthony Hospital in western Washington told CNN on Thursday that 82-year-old Casey Kasem is in critical condition.
The former host of "American Top 40" and "Casey's Top 40" was admitted to the hospital on Sunday after one of his daughters and an ambulance crew retrieved him from a home where he and his wife were staying.
Kasem is receiving IV antibiotics, blood pressure medication and care for bed sores.
His three older children and his wife have been locked in a ongoing battle over the care of Kasem. Although Kasem has been married to Jean Kasem for 34 years, the children are from his first marriage. He and Jean also have a daughter together.
On Sunday, Jean allegedly threw a hunk of meat at Kerri Kasem, the daughter who had come to take her father to the hospital.
The broadcasting icon has Lewy body disease, the most common type of progressive dementia after Alzheimer's.
Kerri Kasem won a court order in May to become the conservator for her ailing father, but he went missing soon after.
He was eventually located in Washington with his wife at a friend's home.
Kerri Kasem was granted permission last Friday to take her father to a doctor.
