A Denver mother of three is dead after her husband shot her in the head. The woman was on the phone with 911 at the time of the shooting on April 14 at 9:30 p.m.
Kristine Kirk allegedly told the 911 dispatcher that she believed her husband, Richard Kirk, 47, had consumed edible marijuana and was hallucinating and talking about the end of the world. Their young boys were scared, so she called for help.
Richard got a gun from his gun safe and shot Kirk while she was still on the phone. "Police say the call lasted about 12 to 15 minutes, and an investigation has been initiated by the Denver Police Department and the Combined Communications Center," reports CBS 4.
Sonny Jackson of the Denver police says, “Any time a person dies while communicating with Denver’s emergency services we examine the circumstances to ensure that the incident was handled properly and we look for areas to improve upon,” further reports CBS 4.
Richard is being held without bail on first-degree murder charges.
